Propheting From the Experience

Back to Home Page

"Our life in the world comes to us in the shape of time. Consequently, our expectation is both a creative and constructive force. If you expect to find nothing within yourself but the repressed, abandoned and shameful elements of your past or a haunted hunger, all you will find is emptiness and desperation. If you do not bring the kind eye of creative expectation to your inner world, you will never find anything there. The way you look at things is the most powerful force in shaping your life. In a vital sense, perception is reality."
John O'Donohue "Anam Cara"

On Thursday, February 3rd, I left my snowy suburban home in New York and flew the "friendly skies" bound for "The Prophets Conference" in sunny Santa Monica, California. The conference, which ran from the 4th through the 6th of February was a three day phenomenon featuring the brains, talents, hearts and souls of the people involved in and responsible for the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know ?"

Scientists, mystics, doctors and actors of all shapes and sizes joined a crowd of attendees that numbered close to 900. The conference was designed to take the participants into a deeper and more profound exploration of a film that has already affected the lives of millions; a groundbreaking film that probes the nature of reality and the quantum mechanical universe. During the three day period, we were treated to lectures and panel discussions featuring Dr. David Albert, Dr. Joseph Dispenza, Dr. Masaru Emoto, Dr. John Hagelin, Dr. Stuart Hameroff, Dr. Miceal Ledwith, Dr. Candace Pert, Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, Dr. William A Tiller and Dr. Fred Allen Wolfe. The information was non stop. Ponder this......."How often does one get to sit in the presence of so many great minds?" Needless to say, thinking caps were essential wearing apparel.

On Friday night, the filmmakers, William Arntz, Betsy Chasse and Mark Vicente shared the fascinating story of how the movie was born. It was by no means an easy birth. These three vigilant souls were challenging the prevailing mindset of Hollywood. They had birthed a movie designed to make audiences think.......they had created a cinematic experience depicting how we create our own reality and had used quantum physics to support their message. This was virtually an anathema to Hollywood

The prevailing Hollywood belief is that people are not interested in having their brains probed at the neighborhood Multiiplex. An evening at the movies has become an escape clause in stressful lives......a retreat into a world in which ones mind is checked at the box office. "I go to the movies to be entertained" is somewhat of a societal mantra. Would people be interested in a film about Quantum Physics? Was this "Blockbuster" material? And so....getting the film shown was a daunting task....and definitely not for one possessed of a fragile ego. The movie had to kick and claw its way onto the big screen. Betsy Chasse confessed to unrelenting nagging at local theaters to give the film a chance.

Margaret Mead said "The greatest accomplishments are made by the smallest of determined groups." She must have had a premonition about William Arntz, Betsy Chasse and Mark Vicente. On December 31, 2004, the film passed the 10 million dollar mark in box office receipts. On February 6th, as the conference was finishing .........the movie celebrated an interrupted year of playing in United States theaters. On March 15th, the movie was released on DVD and VHS by Fox Home Entertainment, to one of the largest advance orders Amazon.com has ever seen. And this is only the beginning. The possibilities are infinite.

On one level, "What the Bleep Do We Know " tells the story of Amanda, who is played by Marlee Matlin. She is a photographer who lives in her past.....a past haunted by the ghosts of disappointment, hurt and self-loathing. She has woven herself into a web of misery and looks to a bottle of anxiety pills to set her free. Amanda is unaware that her escape route is as close as her next thought. As we watch Amanda's transformation, we are taken on a journey far beyond the apparent....far beyond three dimensional reality...into the world of quantum physics. Our tour guides comprise the esteemed chorus of experts who gathered at the Prophets Conference.

The conference afforded many opportunities to listen to the experts discuss the most mind baffling of scientific facts and theories. On occasion they challenged the cliche "Great Minds Think Alike" as debates, discussions and disagreements developed. The result was a resounding thud as minds opened and people slid further down the rabbit hole.

Dr. Dispenza discussed how he consciously creates each day. Beliefs cause neurons to become hard wired. If we change our beliefs, we can reinvent ourselves. Why wait for science to give us permission? Knowledge is a tool to be applied, personalized and experienced. We have all heard stories about people who have experienced a spontaneous remission from a terminal illness. Dr. Dispenza explained how changing our thoughts can change our biology. Living consciously is a skill we can all develop.

Dr. John Hagelin is a world-renowned quantum physicist, educator, author and public policy expert. He is also a man whose warmth and authenticity radiated from the podium as he talked about living in accordance with natural law.

As the world spins precariously on its axis..... while policy makers design laws and bills that are in direct opposition to natural law..... I can only hope for the day when the collective psyche catches up to prophets like Dr.John Hagelin.

Dr. Masaru Emoto is an internationally known researcher who has demonstrated how molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words and feelings. He found that water from clear springs and water that had been exposed to loving words showed brilliant, complex and colorful snowflake patterns. In contrast, polluted water and water exposed to negative thoughts showed dull asymmetrical patterns. Our bodies are mostly water and, as the movie repeatedly states "If thoughts can do that to water....imagine what they can do to us."

How can I convey the way Marlee Matlin touched our hearts when she spoke about her own personal transformation? How can I share the bright eyes of Robert Bailey Jr. as he uttered wisdom far beyond his fifteen years on planet Earth? How can I communicate the joyousness of Elaine Hendrix as she graced the conference with her playfulness and spontaneity. How can I describe the wisdom of JZ Knight who, through Ramtha, has had such a profound influence on the participants of the movie as well as countless others. How can I communicate the genius of people like Dr. Ledwith, Dr. Albert, Dr. Hameroff, Dr. Satinover, Dr. Tiller, Dr. Pert and Dr. Wolfe? How can I translate concepts which my mind is still trying to wrap itself around?

The movie "What The Bleep Do We Know" verifies wonder. "Why we are here?" may ultimately be a question without an answer......or, perhaps, a question with many different answers. Can we celebrate the mystery of not knowing? Can we celebrate the mystery of not being able to figure out what's going on? Can we relax in paradox while actively participating in the magical, mystical whimsical vitality of this dynamic life experience?

Welcome to the world of Quantum Mechanics, where thoughts are things and we are the creators of our own reality. "What The Bleep Do We Know?" tells us "It's time to get wise."
